Is it possible to self-host a Helm? (Censorship concern)

At checkout it looks like subscription is required. If that’s the case, how is this censorship resistant? At any point Helm can cancel a connection and effectively brick a Helm, yes?

Is it possible to self host and avoid the “Security gateway”? All other subscription features can be de-centralized (backups, domain + DNS). Thanks!

I don’t see how this would work. The subscription is to pay for the relay servers running at trusted IP addresses. This is needed to send and receive mail between mail servers without being marked as spam. While anyone can self-host email with a static IP address, it’s a huge pain and not very reliable because of the trust system between email providers. It wouldn’t make much sense to sensor someone seeing as they can’t even see what’s in the information being transmitted.
